Alyssa Olson

Alyssa holds graduate degrees in landscape architecture and architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. For her undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota, she majored in architecture, with minors in environmental design and sustainability studies.

Before joining GLS, she was a landscape designer at SWA Group in Sausalito, where she worked on a range of local and international projects. In previous internships at Tom Leader Studio in Minneapolis, Bionic in San Francisco, and Local Office Landscape Architecture in New York, she contributed to projects including the Nicollet Mall Competition and the Rockaway East Resiliency Preserve. At Penn, Alyssa founded and led a construction and collaborative laboratory, CO+LAB, which created a platform for PennDesign students to design and build meaningful small-scale installations. She was also a teaching assistant for ecology, landform, and grading workshops. Her research endeavors have taken her to Miami, Sicily, Turkey and New Zealand, with recently published journal articles focused on realities and perceptions of anthro-ecological waste systems. Outside of the office she enjoys writing and playing music, building things, playing competitive ultimate disc, and general adventuring.
