This project converted four blocks of an abandoned railroad spur into a linear park, which is adjacent to multi-family housing sites made available by converting warehouses and light manufacturing facilities.
The GLS design for this project follows a master plan for the North Hollis Urban Design Area by ROMA, which provides much needed green space for Emeryville and emergency vehicle access to all housing. Designing an urban linear park that could serve a fire lane required close coordination with civil engineers. The parks are associated with the Liquid Sugar, City Limits, Glasshaus and Elevation 22 housing sites; the Elevation 22 site is at Powell and Hollis Streets, Emeryville’s busiest intersection.
