For this restoration of a family's extraordinary compound in Yosemite National Park, GLS acted as prime architect.
Located on the Merced River in Wawona, California, and originally constructed around 1915, the buildings include a 1,600 square-foot main cabin, a carriage house, a wood shed, an outhouse and a “honeymoon cabin.” GLS preserved the character of the outbuildings and the main cabin while using sustainable practices wherever possible. Constraints included the tight standards enforced by federal park regulations as well as a particular concern for fire safety.
