Mission Rock is envisioned as a vibrant, entirely new mixed-use neighborhood on San Francisco's eastern waterfront.
The first vertical phase of this ambitious waterfront neighborhood is moving forward with a team of four internationally recognized architects. GLS is collaborating simultaneously with all four design architects – Studio Gang, Henning Larsen, MVRDV, and WORKac – to develop 3.2 acres of ecologically-driven landscape on structure, providing cohesion, connectivity, and a sense of place across the terraces and rooftops of four high rise towers, culminating in a fifth facade. Our design combines urban and ecological systems to create memorable places for people and habitats for insect pollinators, local songbirds and migrating songbirds, while acting as a bridge between the waterfront park and the green infrastructure being designed by others.
